If you have seen Tik Tok videos, but never actually use it, here’s a step-by-step of using Tik Tok for beginners.
Step 1: Setting Up
To use Tik Tok you should install the application on your device first from Google Play or the App Store. When you open the app, you'll be sent to Tik Tok's homepage. On the lower right-hand side of the screen, tap on the 'Me' button.
That will lead you to the page where you can sign up. Using your phone number or email address or your pre-existing social media accounts, like Facebook.
When you have signed yourself up, it's now easier for you to edit your profile- username, bio, profile photo, or a personal link.
Step 2: "Discover" Page
Just like other social media platforms, Tik Tok also has a page where users can explore videos of other people that may relate to them or interest them. The discover page also lets you see what trending is based on the hashtag used.
There is another page on Tik Tok "For You" where algorithmically associated with previous videos that you may like, share, or commented on. And a page for “Following” showing videos of the ones you have followed.
Step 3: Following And Engaging
If you're a business owner an already have a target audience, it is better to follow and engage with Tik Tok creators that have the potential to enhance with your brand or already has. Engaging with them is easy as you can see, there's different icons on the right side.
Starting from the top, it's an icon where you can go to their profile and follow. The rest are basic engagements- like, comment, share. The last icon is a rotating icon showing you what song/music is used in the video.
Step 4: Creating Contents
Tik Tok is all about having a strong and creative concept. Production quality is the least thing that you should be worried, but of course it does help make the video look better and pleasing. To start your Tik Tok video, tap on the "+" button at the bottom-center of your screen.
You will see different icons and features. At the bottom, you can see ‘Effects’, ‘Upload’, ‘Templates’ buttons and the duration buttons (60s and 15s). When you finish recording a video on spot or use the ‘Upload’ button to insert different videos/pictures, you can sound, text, effects (like transitions), or stickers.
The most used button is the 'Effects' button as a lot of Tik Tok's trendy videos or challenges circled around these effects.
Step 5: Uploading Your Video
After finalizing your video, you just need to insert in some captions and relevant hashtags to your video to increase your reach.
