How TP-Link Started?
Founded in 1996, TP-Link is a global provider of reliable networking devices and accessories, involved in all aspects of everyday life.
With a proven heritage of stability, performance, and value, TP-Link has curated a portfolio of products that meet the networking needs of all individuals.
The founders of TP-Link are Zhao Jianjun and Zhao Jiaxing. They are brothers.
Zhao Jianjun graduated from Hefei University of Technology, and in 1992, obtained a master's degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University.
After graduating, Jianjun Zhao came up with an idea to create easy-to-use modems and routers.
Driven by this kind of thinking, Zhao Jianjun quickly found another like-minded partner, Zhao Jiaxing.
The two began to think about the feasibility of developing optical modems and router products.
How TP-link Was Created
When TP-Link was founded in 1996, aside from the two brothers involved, they only had one employee. Therefore, whatever the job is, the three were personally involved in it.
Both the brothers put their utmost effort during the several months of exploration. Finally, they released their first network card.
By 1997, TP-Link had accumulated some funds and built a factory in Shenzhen to expand the company's business.
Later, thanks to the continuous enhancement of research and development capabilities, the router brand TP-LINK was launched. It began to be popular in the domestic and foreign markets, and it only took a few years to grow to the number one in the world.
The Name TP-Link
The company name was based on the concept of "twisted pair link" invented by Alexander Graham Bell, the man who invented and patented the first practical telephone as well.
A twisted pair link is a kind of cabling that when twisted together, improves electromagnetic compatibility. Hence the "TP" in the company name.
Vision And Mission
The company’s mission has been the same since its founding. It is to connect everyone, everywhere with the very best Wi-Fi and networking technology.
Their vision on the other hand is to remain one of the most trusted technical resources and become one of the manufacturers of computer networking products.
TP-Link began its first international expansion in 2005. In 2007, the company moved into its new headquarters and facilities at Shenzhen's Hi-Tech Industry Park.
TP-LINK USA was established in 2008.
During the success, they also expanded their products. In September 2019, TP-Link launched Tapo with one of its initial offerings being the mini smart Wi-Fi Plug.
The smart plug works over a 2.4 GHz wireless connection integrated with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Other offerings from Tapo include a line of home security Wi-Fi cameras and an upcoming line of smart lighting appliances.
The next product is Deco. Deco is a family of mesh-network products. Deco Mesh uses WiFi nodes that work together to cast stronger, more reliable WiFi throughout the whole home, so you never lose your connection as you move from room to room.
Deco Mesh includes a few varieties such as Deco M5, Deco X20, and Deco X90.
