Top 6 Johor Developed Areas

Although the Johor elections proved disappointing for Pakatan Harapan (PH) as they only won twelve seats in the most recent Johor elections. They are nevertheless granted a small consolation as their won districts are generally more developed. Here are the Top 6 Johor Developed Areas.

Johor Jaya

Taman Johor Jaya is a suburb in Johor Bahru in the state of Johor, Malaysia. Johor Jaya is a developed town that consists of mainly residential zones, but also light industrial and commercial zones.

The town has a population of around 66,000, 49% of it being Chinese, 44% being Malays and 7% being Indian. In addition to its plentiful residential areas, Johor Jaya also has major malls such as Aeon, Tesco, Ikea, and Toppen mall.

Alongside that are major fast food outlets KFC, McDonald’s, and Marrybrown. Major marts like Family Mart and 7-eleven can also be found here.

Skudai is a suburb in Iskandar Puteri that is in Johor Bahru, in the state of Johor, Malaysia. Skudai is a developed town that is geographically located in the center of Johor and is the shopping district of the state.

As such, it is home to the major mall, Paradigm mall. Major fast-food outlets such as McDonald’s and KFC can also be found, along with major marts, Family Mart, and 7-Eleven.

The population of Skudai ranges from 160,000 to 210,000. The majority of Skudai's residents are of Chinese descent at around 65%, followed by Malays at 22%, and the Indians at 12%.

Perling is a state constituency located in Pulai. Which is a suburb located in the city of Bukit Indah, Eco Botanic, in the district of Johor Bahru within the state of Johor, Malaysia.

It is a developed area, with tons of residential areas and it covers 922 acres, containing around 10,000 housing units. The main landmark of the housing area is Perling Mall, which has two floors and almost a hundred shops within it.

It also has a major mall in Tesco and fast food outlets such as KFC and McDonald’s available. Major mart outlets can also be found in the form of Family Mart and 7-Eleven.

Stulang is a suburb in Johor Bahru, in the state of Johor, Malaysia. It is a developed suburb divided by two main roads, which are Jalan Stulang Darat and Jalan Stulang Laut.

There are lots of residential areas in Stulang, along with a large Chinese private school and a major mall, R&F mall. Major fast-food outlets can also be found here in the form of McDonald’s and KFC, along with major mart outlet 7-Eleven.

Senai is a town and mukim within the Kulai District that is located in the state of Johor, Malaysia. The town has a total population of 67,440 people divided between the main ethnicities of Chinese, Malays, and Indians.

The town is home to the Senai International Airport. It was opened in 1974 and serves as the aviation gateway for Iskandar Malaysia and the southern region.

Major malls found here include Johor Premium Outlets along with outlets from fast-food, McDonald’s, and KFC. Along with this are major mart outlets, which include Family Mart and 7-Eleven.

The Tangkak District is a district located west of the state of Johor. The district also shares a two-kilometer border with Negeri Sembilan to the northwest.

The district capital and largest city in the district is Tangkak Town. The main economic activities in the district are lifestyle tourism, adventure sports, light manufacturing, and agriculture.

The district has a population of 129,280 as of 2022. There are no major malls such as Aeon or Tesco in the district.

Major fast-food outlets only exist in the form of KFC and Burger King. Major mart outlets found in the district are Family Mart and 7-Eleven, with no sight of major clothing retail store Uniqlo.
